Good Afternoon

I work in a Retail store and we sold a couple of Dell Laptops a while ago, from the 3 that we sold 2 has already came back with the exact same problem.

While the laptop is running on power the laptops run 100% but when we switch over to battery power the laptop will randomly switch to a sort of black and white display with vertical lines over the screen, the laptop still responds 100% but it is very difficult to see anything on the screen. 

I was on the phone with Dell Support for over an hour doing the dell diagnostics and all hardware tested 100% fine on both Power and Battery Power. The Dell support agent then went through the process of updating the graphics drivers on the machine with me and the issue was still not resolved. The Support agent then logged on to the laptop remotely and went through all the graphics settings and so on but still no progress. Then he suggested that I do a full Windows Reset on the machine which I did which after the machine still did the same thing. 

Has anyone had this problem before? It only happens on battery power so I suspect that it is either the battery doesn't supply enough power to the screen or the graphics card.

I recently purchased an Inspirion 14 5447 laptop. Everything was working great until I tried to video chat with friends. The microphone would not work. I could hear the other participants and play music so the speakers were working fine. I could not record a sound in the sound recorder. The more I investigated the more fristrated I got. I called a technical support representative and together we tried for hours to resolve the issue. Nothing seemed to work including reinstalling the audio drivers and even refreshing the computer. The only option I was given at that point was to ship the computer to a depot for a warranty service.

The next day I opend my laptop and heard a ringing/echo coming from the speakers (like when a microphone has interfearance at a concert). When I opened the Dell Audio window (not sound) the microphone was turned "off". As soon as I hit mute the noise stopped. If I unmuted and turned the microphone to "on", the microphone would stop working all together. Basically my microphone works, so long as it is actually turned "off". Something in the audio driver seems to be messed up.I seem to have found a way to make things work, but I was wondering if there was an explanation or permanent repair for this problem.

I've tried all the network drivers I could find on the Dell website, but none of them worked. I'm on a Vostro 3560. Service Tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> and Express Service Code is <ADMIN NOTE: Express service code removed per privacy policy>

I have just purchased a Vostro 3500 from the Dell Outlet but I need to install Windows XP to "fit with the corporate standard". Before buying the 3500 I checked that there were XP drivers available as I can't afford for this to be an issue. Unfortunately I probably should have done a bit of Googling rather than just relying on the Dell website. After a few searches I am beginning to think that the Vostro 3500 isn't supported with Windows XP after all.

I have managed to get everything to work apart from the graphics but now I'm stuck. Can anyone shed any light on how Dell managed to install the graphics drivers for this machine?

Dear Experts,
I bought a Dell Inspiron n5110 but it USB 3.0 is not working for me when i put the mouse or flash-drive in, do i suppose to install a driver to get this work or any other assistance you guy can do for me? Any link for a driver? because i was trying to find but didn't help. Pleasee HELP.

hi

i'm using either a usb or bluetooth mouse with my new XPS 15z, and i'm  getting tired of a problem...

 

the trackpad is impossible to shut down for good... i mean: indeed you can  disable it, turn it off, and even tell it to turn off when usb mouse is plugged, but it never really does, it always, always, always stays on for a second before shutting down...

in other words: my trackpad is disabled, both buttons and touch, and i use a bluetooth mouse. but even it is disabled, if i pass my fingers on it, the cursor moves for 1cm before shutting down... then i wait 2 minutes, and i pass my fingers on it again, and then again the cursor moves 1 cm before stopping moving.

so it is never really shut down, with the consequence i never can type text without my hand touching it and putting the cursor somewhere in the page and i have to put the cursor back to where it was,   

for example it happend 5 times when typing this very text....

please help

 

PS: i have updated the cypress trackpad drivers to last up to date version...

Sameer, I'm getting the same screen here. Can't figure out how to stop the automatic display dimming.

I'm sending my laptop back tomorrow - shouldn't have to go through so much faff to get a three-day old laptop working properly.

I own alienware 17 mid 2013

It won't shut down but I keep having on my green screen Shutting down

I tried the power button many times,  it sleeps then after I push power button again I see as if booting then it goes back to Shutting down message.

What should I do

Model: Dell Inspiron 3647

OS: Windows 8.1

Problem: Laptop will not turn on when power button is pressed. Have to perform a power drain, which allows it to work. Issue has repeated itself 4 times in last 3 weeks.

Troubleshooting:

1. Contacted Dell Support (under warranty). They suggested a power drain, which worked. However, the problem keeps coming back.
2. All hardware diagnostic testing passed.

What typically causes this behavior?

Is it possible for a faulty surge protector to cause this behavior?

It has been remarked on a few places in the forums that the Venue 8 7840 series doesn't ship with Lollipop.  I have been informed that Lollipop is expected to be available via OTA for the 7840 sometime in February

I will post again once I have specific dates when the OTA will be available and any information on the availability of Lollipop for other models of Dell tablets.

Hi Im new with the Dell Pc and i just bought the XPS 15 L502X

if i check the device manager it show 2 graphics cards one is an  intel(R) HD 1GB and another NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M

on the program the software to configure graphics is Intel not Nvidia

If i run flight simulator 2004 the only videocard availlable is Intel HD no Nvidia found, but the program crash....

If i run Adobe ptotoshop it show NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M

If I want to use external monitor pluged to the HD Cable I cannot use the intel software that come with the PC

My question is do i have to uninstall all software and driver for the intel HD and desactivate the card in the bios or device manager and try to find the NVIDIA software?

and why do this card apear if it not listed in the part list

I have a dell inspiron mini 1012 laptop and my problem is that after using mistakenly a USB flash memory in the SD card slot, it does not work.

I mean when I use a sd card the massages says " You need to format the disk in driver D: before you can use it."

What is the problem and please help me to resolve it.

Hi,

so my brand new XPS 15 just arrived today, opened it up plugged it in and try and use the track pad buttons and they dont work its like they are stuck down????

anyone else have this problem and is there a fix?

Hi, 

So I've just picked up my brand new Dell XPS 13 (9343) laptop today and everything is working perfectly. The only issue that I have with it at the moment is the touchpad scroll speed as I feel it is too slow for my liking. I can't seem the find the touchpad settings in the control panel, nor can I find any relevant drivers for the model that I have.

Is there a way to increase the scroll speed?

So it's gotten to the point on my Dell XPS L502X that when I try to play some games, My computer is freezing at random points. The screen will flicker and sometimes go black, then the game will crash and I'll either get a notification saying that my display drivers stopped responding and recovered, or a blue screen hard restart saying that the attempt to reset my drivers from their time out failed. It's been an occasional issue for a while, but it's recently gotten much worse.  I've already updated my drivers and bought a cooling pad to keep my GPU temperature reasonable.  

I'm not sure if its related, but Spybot Search & Destroy keeps coming up with a virus called W3I.IQ5.fraud, but Windows Security doesn't detect it, and i can't seem to remove it.  

This is getting immensely frustrating, and any help would be welcome.

My keyboard and Touchpad in my XPS12 9Q23 have stopped working. So Initially I cracked my screen so I ordered a replacement and changed the LCD. after doing this repair, the keyboard and touch pad have stopped working eventhough the hardwware setting suggest that they are both working fine. My assumption is that adding the new LCD has caused the laptop to go exclusively into the tablet mode where the keyboard and trackpad are inactive.Does someone have any fix for this?

Hi,

I have bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop in 2009 which it previously had Windows 7 and everything worked fine until this print spooler problem occurs just happened in mid-2011 and until now with Windows 8.1 upgraded which I have done yesterday.

Everytime I go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a printer the problem occurs that the print spooler service is not running, this is what would Microsoft call it "Windows can't open Add Printer (Paragraph line) The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine."
I have tried this by going in to Services and Start the spooler service, but somehow another error message which come up saying "Windows could not start the Spooler service on Local Computer. (Paragraph line) Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Is there a way to solve this issue?
Please reply back if you want pictures showing error messages instead of written text just to make it easier, please reply back.

I have a 14z, N114z. Recently my 640Gb Hard Drive went South. I replaced it with a Toshiba 1Tb drive. Since Dell, naturally, doesn't provide backup disc's, I was forced to obtain a Repair and Reinstallation Disc. I installed Windows 7 Home Premium on the new drive and got it activated, no problems. Here's my issue, my Ethernet, USB ports do not work. So no connection to the Net. Right now I am forced to use a HP for this, running Win 8.1. How can I find and get the drivers I need to make all right with my world? If this continues to be an issue or not fixable. I may be forced to........Dare I say it..........be forced to...... get a Samsung?  Help Me!!!!!!!!!
